While Republicans really managed to out-disgrace themselves during the administration of President Obama by being more demented and racist than ever, the fact is that the GOP hasn’t really treated Democratic presidents as though they were legitimate presidents for some time. This is the primary reason they impeached President Clinton, even though the initial investigation into Whitewater came up with nothing, and why they were forced to scandalize President Obama’s tan suit – because despite their best efforts, there was absolutely nothing about him they could turn into a legitimate scandal.
That’s why it’s hardly a surprise that they’re trying to accuse President Biden of – something or other. There’s some kind of bribery scandal that’s both too stupid and too complex to actually follow – but even though Republicans were promising something so devastating to present next month that it might actually get them crossover support from Democrats, we’re seeing that the GOP actually isn’t as united on this nonsense as McCarthy is pretending to be.
Rep. Ken Buck is hardly in a swing district – it’s a double digit Republican stronghold, and rather than fanning the flames, he’s calling the impeachment “theater” – as one rightfully should – a distraction from the actual issues. That means that despite what we’ve already seen of this farce, it’s actually a whole lot dumber. If even Buck is worried of the embarrassing clown show that impeachment proceedings are liable to be, should McCarthy allow it to happen, then it’s not likely to take place any time soon.
